𧔠âWhatâs in a Name?â â The Story Behind BOROBORO
âWhat does BOROBORO mean?â
In Japanese, it means worn-out, torn, or falling apart.
Not just fabric â it can describe anything: a cracked wall, an old toy, even a weary heart.
But at AIZIST, we see BOROBORO differently.
To us, it doesnât mean broken â
it means lived.
It means touched, cherished, and full of memory.
When we chose BOROBORO as a part of AIZIST,
we werenât choosing damage.
We were choosing depth.
Each BOROBORO piece holds time â
visible traces of someoneâs care, hands, and life.
AIZIST is about more than stitching.
Itâs about giving voice to fabric,
and showing that even what looks worn has something left to give.
So we name our story BOROBORO â
not to mourn,
but to honor.
